TERRIBLE MURDER.
Another G-isborne Tragedy,
(UY TELEUKAI'II. — I'KKSfi ASSOCIATION.) CllSHOliNli, Monday. News has reached hen: <if a terrible murder committed on the jVlmllia Peninsula. A shepherd named Robert l.iollan, on the rnn of Mr U. Omiond, has been murdered by a half-caste named Makiore. Uollan's remains were found amongst the ruins of his whare, which had been destroyed, at Table Cape, on the night of tlio murder. Makiore left his home, and his yonug !.rother-in-law, being frightened of belli? left at home in the dark, followed a short distance behind him. lie was heard to fire three shots, and the appearance of the ground round (Julian's vvharo showed that his bleeding body had been dragged into the whare which had been burned. The motive assigned is jealousy. Makiore had oftened expressed himself in jealous terms of (Jollan on account of a Maori woman with whom he was living, and of whom Makiore was deeply enamoured. The other day lie offered a Maori £10 if he would bring the woman to him. The policare at Mahia, and the murderer has been arrested.
