When Mr Stewart had finished speaking, Master Percy Richardson stepped forward and presented him with n handsome gold locket, on which the Friemason's square and compass was engraved, as a token of respect and good wishes from the scholars. Cheers were then given for the master and the. committee, after which Mr Stewart called for cheers for the assistant and pupil teachers, saying, that the magnificent averages that had been obtained in the pa.,t three years—-the best in the Province of Auckland—was in a great measure due to the assistant teachers.
