THE CAMBRIDGE SCHOOL.

Tun Cambridge Public School broke np on Thursday afternoon, and it being the last occasion on which Mr Stewart, the headmaster, would meet all the scholars, previous to his departure to Ureymo'ith, ho addressed a few words of encouragement to them, and also thanked them for the good manner in which they had, as a rule, conducted themselves. When Mr Stewart had finished speaking, Master Percy Richardson stepped forward and presented him with n handsome gold locket, on which the Friemason's square and compass was engraved, as a token of respect and good wishes from the scholars. Mr Stewart said he should prize the trinket as an expression of good will from those whom ho had trained. J l.e however, trusted that every penny had been voluntarily given or he would not think ot receiving it. Cheers were then given for the master and the. committee, after which Mr Stewart called for cheers for the assistant and pupil teachers, saying, that the magnificent averages that had been obtained in the pa.,t three years—-the best in the Province of Auckland—was in a great measure due to the assistant teachers. Three hearty choers were then given, and the youngsters wended their ways home. Mr Sargent, tho chairman of the school committee, was present, and Mr Stewart formally handed over the school property to him.
