CAMBRIDGE WEST SCHOOL

A 3IBKTI.VG of the committee of the above school was held on Friday last. Present: Messrs Bailey (voted to the chair), Tucker, Jarratt and Fitzgerald. The minutes of the previous meeting having been confirmed, a letter was read from the Rev. W. Hooper, D.D., resigning the position of chairman, and also expressing satisfaction at the harmony that had existed among the members during his term of office. The resignation was accepted with regret. —Mr Hyatt reported very favourably upon the work performed by his pupil teachers. —Letter from Mr Hyatt enclosing two notes that had been sent to one of the teachers by the wife of Joseph Vitikers, in reply to the usual forms that are sent when •hildrcn do not present themselves at school, of which the following are copies : "Please Miss Nixon, Emma had to do some work and if you give her the stick, I will come up to you." "If you would toach the children better when they are at school, there would bo uo need of sending any of these papers when they stay away half a day, for it is a waste of paper.—B. Vickers."
