The IVaikato Times Office, Friday. WAIKATO LIVE STOCK MAR KETS. Mr W. J. Hunter Reports.—At Cambridge, on Friday, March 2lit,h, Mr Cox's clearing sale of groceries, furniture, &c., went off wall, there was a large attendance and good prices realised. At Ohaupo, on Tuesday, April 2nd, not so many cattle yarded as usual, there was better enquiry and nearly all sold. There remains au unsatisfied demand for 1 to steers, and I can place a couple of hundred if brought forward at uc.ce. Dairy cows were poorly represented and enquired for. I quote : Dairy cows. £2 10s to £3 10s ; good cows are worth £'4 to £1 10s ; store cows, £1 5s to £115s ; weaned calves, 9s to 13s ; yearling steers, £13s to £1 ss; 1£ 2-yr old steers, £1 10s to £113s ; 3-yr-old steeis, .£2 12a to £3; fat cows and heifers, £2 10s to £3 5s ; fat steers, £3 to £4 (is; 324 crossbred lambs, 6s ; fat lambs, 8s (id ; fat ewes, 7s (id. At Mr Tole's clearance sale on Thursday, April 4th, there was a very large attendance from all parts of Waikato, and with exception of horse stock everything sold very satisfactorily, Tlie following are some of the prices realised D.F. AUCKLAND LIVE STOCK MARKETS. Messrs A. Buckland anii Sous' Weekly Kki'OßT.— At the Haymr.rket during the past week prices of fodder have bean firm, and have ranged from 2s to 2s (id per bushel. New oats have sold at 2s Id ; ryegrass, 3s lOd to Os ; cocksfoot, 4s and 4s fid ; bonedust, £(! 10s to £8 per ton. At the horso sale on Friday good fresh horses sold well, and brought £8 to £14 each ; ponies and inferior horse), from £1 to AM. On Tuesday hides and skins were in full number, fiiil sold freely. Ox hides ranged from 4}d to s:,'d ; cinvs, 2.|d to 3d ; calfskins, 4.'id per lb ; shaeps' pelts and skins, from Is to 2s (id each ; wool, li'.d per lb ; tallow, lis to 14s perewt. At. Rcmnera, on Thursday, the advance on milking cows notod in last week's report was sustained, and store cattle were better ivorth. Fat cattle also rallied from the extremely low values of the past three weeks, and were belter worth about Is (id the 1001b. Steers ranged from 14stoli>s; cows, lis to 13s the 1001b. Calves, in shott supply, sold at high values. Fat sheep were slightly better worth. Wethers ranged from 10s (id to 13s ; ewes, 7s to lis (id. Lamb-*, plentiful, sold well. Shorn lambs brought 5s Od to 8s ; lambs in their wool, from 5s !)d to 10s each. Porkers were in good enquiry, and sold satisfactorily, bringing about 3d the lb dead weight. Mkssus Hunter and Nolan s Weekly IIKI'OKT. — Grain, seeds, and horse feed: There has been an active demand for oats, and an advance in value of local grown. But little chaff has been disposed of, and seeds have been slow of sale. We quote : Southern feed oats, 3s to 3s 3d ; local Tartarian, 2s to 2s Od; dun, 2s lid ; 3s fid per bushel; cocksfoot, 5s to (is per bushel ; provincial rye, 4s to (is per bushel. Horses : lint a limited number have been brought forward; the demand lias been steady, without alteration in value. Barely an average number were submitted by auction at the Durham Yards on Friday, but the competition was good at the previous week's rates. Wool, hides, skin, bones, and tallow : Lots wero fairly nnmerous at the Durham Yards on Tuesday, and bidding was brisk. There was an absenco of really heavy ox, and medium reached 4£d per lb, ,'jid being the lowest price given ; cow hides, from 2.fd to 2[d ; calfskins, 4.]> d per lb ; sheep skins, 3s 2d each ; pelts, Is (id to Is lid each; lamb skins, Is 7d to 2s; lambs' wool, (r/d per lb; tallow, 10s per cwt; rough fat, l|'l per lb: bones, ±14 10s per ton. Cattle: The over-supply of fat beasts the previous week has caused a reaction, and but a limitod number wero brought forward, but there was little upward tendency in value. Dairy and store stocks were more plentiful, and in better request, and there was a slight rise in the price of good cows at their profit. Below an average number wero yarded at Newmarket on Tuesday, but there was a good muster at Papakura on Wednesday. Good dairy cows realised higher figures, and stores were ill a little better demand. Fat cattle were scarce, but the trade having large stocks on hand, lis per 1001b. for top sorts was difficult to elicit. Dairy cows reached tO 17s (>d; stores without noteworthy alteration. Sheep wore in moderate numbers at Newmarkot on Tuesday, and were steadily competed for at the previous week's rates. Wethers sold at from 10s Od to 14s 3d ; ewes, from (is l»d to 12-*. Lambs were plentiful, and sold at from 5- (J 1 to Ss each. Pigs: Very few yarded, and realised above market value.
