The now market ha< been opened, and lias civou the gr«'.ite-<t satisfaction to both buyers and st'llnis. Produce of all kinds has been ipiiltid in unusually large quantities. Potatoes of jj'iuii qualify are scarce—secondclass ami inferior coming forward freely. Fully .".fill Backs have been sold during the week. Onions have further advanced in value, and a largo demand exists, lirnin of all kind.-, moves freely, and supply is short, of requirements. Vegetables commanding good prices, I'resh butter has sold fairly. Corned butter of prime quality very dillicult to obtain. Large supplies of second-class inferior. Cheese ill good supply ; that of prime quality finds speedy sale. Values unchanged. Eggs Pair supply, mid are much wanted. Iligh prices have ruled. I'.aeon and hams have sold freely, and supplies are wanted. Hnsr.y has moved more freelv, and supplies are wanted. J'oultry of* all kinds invery largo supply, allies unchanged. Young pigs entered in good numbers, Hcmand has not been so good, and prices have boon lower. Porkers are scarce, and commanding high price--'. Fruit of all kinds in large supply. Values unchanged for all except plums, which are lower. The demand fortius line does not improve, although supplies are but small—their places being taken by pears, Good dessert apples and pears have fetched fair values. Grapes: Those to hand are in poor condition. It is a pity (hat more care is not taken by steamers carrying this and other soft fruits, which are handled as though they were valueless, and regardless of the interests of the unfortunate grower. The attendance at the sales lias been unusually large, particularly on I lida •, at the new mail, the building bc-illfah-ly crowded throughout the day, and a large businc-.s was the result.
