A WAIKATO BOY WINS THE SWIMMING CHAMPIONSHIP.
The following; is the report of tho Halfmile Championship of the Auckland Swimmini? races on Saturday :—Wilfred von Stunner, 1; H. Bailey, 2; I'. J. Missen, 3. The other starters were V. M idi'gan, H. Nicholson, \V. H. Peters, and 1?'. .T. Taylor. Bailey led at the first turn, but approaching the .second end von Sturnier whs level with him, and tho latter, taking tho lead, kept it till tho finish, winning by ,'iO yards, amidst grunt cheers. Yon Sturinor also caiuo iu second in the 200 yards race. His stylo was much admired, and ho was picked oat ut onoe from nil the others as a favouritu.
