WAIPIRO MURDERS.
SENTENCE OF DEATH. CONFESSION OF THE PRISONER. (BY TKLKGRAPH.— PiIKSS ASSOCIATION.) Gisbornk, Thursday. The Court opened this morning. Mr Gully summed up far tho prosecution, and Mr Kenny spoke on behalf of the prisoner. Judge Richmond likened the evidence to a bundle of Bticks, the bundle could be broken stick by stick, but the whole was strong. The jury returned a verdict of guilty, and sentence nf death was passed on tho prisoner, who maintained a very calm demeanour. Hβ will bo executed at Napier. Friday. This afternoon Haro Te Pire, condernnned to death for the murrlor of the Took family, has confessed to Molii Tnrei, native clergyman, that he committed the deed. Hβ stated that he had no accomplice. At an interview with hi" father, he did not deny his guilt, and said " I am and in heart. From earth I came, to earth I return." Tho prisoner leaves this afternoon lor Napier.
