HAMILTON DOMAIN BOARD.
Till-: Hamilton Domain Board met on Tuesday evening at the Borough Council Chamber*. Present : Messrs ,T. Knox (chairman). Jones and Bull. The minutes of the previous ordinary and adjourned meetings wore read and confirmed. Leases.—The Clerk reported that the lease of Lot No. -112, ten acres, was offered at auction by Mr Knox on Sitnrday last, mil was bought by Mr G. Vowless at a rental of £1 10s for the whole.-The report was adopted. The terms of the lease required tho tenant to keep the land free of gorse, briar, &c—Mr Jones thought that in case the tenant failed to comply with the conditions he should receive notice to carry out his part or tho Board would do so at his oxpense.—The Chairman said this would be made quite clear in tho lease, but Mr O'Neill would be consulted in the matter. <\.pi'licatk)n for Release.—Mr Ji. Murray wrote statiug that after the 28h inst. he would not require the section (No. 47) occupied by him. The Board thought it had no power to release the occupier and the letter was received. Bradley's Paddock.—The Clerk drew the Board's attention to tho fact that tho Board is making no revenue from this land. —The Chairman thought they should put it up to lease, at an upset price, and moved that the members present, with Messrs Tippen and von Sturmer, be a Committee to report on the advisability of letting this paddock.—Mr Jones said the Board had, in the first place, let their lands at too hieh a value. If they could get improving tenants, it would be better to let all their lands on liberal terms, and encourage people to take them.—Mr Bell seconded the motion, whioli was oarried.—The Chairman gave notice of motion that the resolution re Bradley's paddock be rescinded. , Leases.—A discussion ensued as to the propriety of having duly executed leasos belwoen the Board and their tenants. Lots No.s. 0 and 10.—The Clerk reported that the grubbing of these lots was not carried out according to contract. —Mr Jones said this was the result of taking ridiculously low tenders. — The matter dropped. Account.—The following account was passed for payment:—The Waikato Times, £1 7s. Keiiate ok Rents.—On the terms of a former resolution of the Board it was decided that no rphate of rates can be allowed unless the rents are paid promptly and tho leases signed. The Board adjourned to Tuesday, the oth April.
