The second charge is that xvliilst sitting on the bench he wickedly perverted the true course, of justice, and conspired with others to prevent Mr Jones having a fair and impartial trial during the hearing of the conspiracy cases on the l'Jth and 20tii April, 188(i, and that Mr Rawson's conduct and language on the bench was high'y slanderous, abusive and insulting, and that he had the appearance of being under the influence of liquor, and generally during the whole case that Rawson suted wickedly in a corrupt and malicious manner, with intent to defeat the ends of justice, etc. The further and lifth charges are somewhat similar in language. The whole of the morning was taken up in discussing the charges with the Commissioner:*, and Mr Jones is now opening his own ca-e.
