Mrs Brett, the Misses Brett (2), and H. Brett, junior. As Mr Brett intends to pay an extended visit to the Paris Exhibition he has consented to do what he can to assist in securing a good display of the mineral exhibits sent from this colony and in furtherance of that object has been appointed one of the Honorary Commissioners for the New Zealand Court. The local volunteers are enthusiastic hecause of the victory of Sergeant Parslow of the " A " Battery, in the competition for the championship of the colony and steps are being taken to accord him a suitable reception on his return to town on Wednesday afternoon next. Business on change was a little quieter today, cxcept that Saxons continued to attract a large amount of attention. Some seven or eight thousand Saxons changed hands to-day, 1000 being disposed of iti one line sales. They opened at 10s Cd ex dividend, and receded to 10 s, being a slight advance on Saturday's quotation, namely : '.Is to 10s l)d cum dividend. Principal business transacted to-day was negotiated at from 10-i to 10s 2d ex dividend, and at 3 p.m. there were buyers at 10s and sellers at 10s oil. Trentous in sympathy with Saxons, also attracted some attentive business done ■it <1 p.m. then 4s !)d and latterly at 4s again, the market closing with buyers at o-i Dd. sellers at 4s lid. New Maoimtairi and Cainbrias easier. Moanatairi were free at os early in the day, but subsequently receded to 2s 10.1, and later in the day buyers offered 2s Oil, while sellers elected to hold of! for os. Cainbrias changed hands at 3s !)d. and late in the afternoon theie were sellers at 4s, but no buyers at that ligure. The only other mining business quoted was Alburnias, at Is ( .)d. The opening of the Native meeting at Orakei is postponed till Wednesday. Mr Milchelson goes to the Thames to-motrow, to arrange with the l'iako natives re a block of land there, in which the Government have sunk He will not be back for the opening of the Orakei meeting, but will attend it on Thursday. Labour lie's buildings, which were burned on Saturday, was insured for t'7oo in the National and South British Oflicej.
