HAMILTON ROAD BOARD
TilK adjourned monthly meeting of the Hamilton Road Board was held on Satur day last. Present: Messrs Jones (chairman), Atkinson, Maunder, Way and Livingstone. The minutes of the meeting of the Board on tho 2nd inst. wete read.
CoiuiEsi'OXiJKXCH. —Letter from Mr John Hill, asking f'"" removal of a gate on the Ohanpo road.—llesulvod that the Clerk write to Mr Hill, and state that if he persists in having the gate removed, the Board would remove other Rates on Da Qu in coy's road.—L'ropnsed by Mr Maunder, seconded by Mr Livingstone, that the lowest tendoi' for Stokes' bush drain be accepted if found in order.—Mr Atkinson was not in favour of this work being carried out, and thought that if a portion of the present drain was deepened and the road through Stokes' bush clayed and fascined, it would meet the present requirements of the ratepayers. He proposed as an amendment, seconded by Mr Way, that tho outfall drain be deepened across the Whatawhata toad as far as Mr Livingstone's fence, and that no tender be accepted for the remainder of the work, but in lieu thereof the Stoke's Bush Road be clayed and fascined whore required, and the present drain be cleared out and widened. Tho amendment was put to the mooting and lost. Mr Maunder's proposition wan put and carried. Resolved that Mr Atkinson should get the gravelling done on the Kukuhia Swamp road, and supervise the work, the cost not to exceed eight pounds. The following tenders wore received for Strike's Bush Drain :—Waits and Jones, £128 2s Od ; Booth, J. C, .till) (is 2d ; Vowless and Co., £88 ; (accepted), Crosby, Bros., £19S Us (id.
