The. Waiknlo Timss Office, Friday. WAIKATO LIVE STOCK MARKETS. Mit W. J. UuNi'Eii Reports.— At Te Awamutu, on Saturday last, the special lot of horses advertised, brought a Rood nuinbor of buyers, and a brisk sale resulted. A lot of furniture, etc. brought ready sale, I sold active harness horses, £8 to £10; unbroken colt, £5 ; riding horses, £3 to £5 ; buggy, £10 s<; harness, £1 15s. At Ohaupo, on Tuesday last, the yards were well filled with a good class of 'cattle, principally fresh steers. Several pens wore withdrawn, but greater portion sold, Young cattlo sold more freely, dairy cows in demand, and sold well, if at profit. A largo number of beef were disposed of, also lot sheep and lambs. I quote ; Dairy cows, €3 to £1 10s ; weaned calves, Us to 20s ; V 2 and two-year-old steers, £1 5s and £1 15s ; three-year-old steers, £3 to £3 5s ; three and four-year-olds, nearly beef, £ I ; fat sleors, £5 5s ; fat cows and heifers, £'3 to £1 7s (id ; store ewes, 5s to (Is 6d ; lambs 5s Od to 6s lid each. I also disposed of privately, 31 three and four-year-old steers, £3 to £-1 5s ; waggon, £1S ; aoveral horses at fair prices.
AUCKLAND PRODUCE MARKETS' Messrs A. Buckland and Sons' Weekly REPORT.—Atthchaymarketdriringtho week ending Match 7 fodder has brought from Is 3d to 2s per cwt. On Friday the horse sale was well attended and the improved prices of previous week sustained. Young active draughts ranged from 110 to £12 10s, a mare and foal, £24. Ponies and inferior horses from 25s and upwards, a buggy £16. At the hide and skin sale on Tuesday, hides were in full numbers, and the advance noted in last week's report. Ox hides sold from 3yd to -Iyd; cow hides, to 2.4 d ; calf skins, aid to 5d per lb ; fat and tallow, Ss to 15s per cwt; p 'lb, Is to Is 5d each ; fleece wool, 6'fd to 0;d ; lambs wool, (iJ,- p;r lb. At the Waiuku sale a very general assortment comprising horses, cattle, sheep, pigs, poultry, fruit, books household furniture and sundries were di- posed of to a good attendance, anil prices throughout were salfactory, and at a special sale of horses held atMr Morrison's, near Pan mure, on Wednesday, prices throughout were good, varying from £-1 5s to £11 10s and averaging above £S At Ueumera on Tlunsday the heifers advertised sold satisfactorily, and brought from (!5s to SSs each ; store cattle in moderate numV'r kept (heir values. Fat cattle in full number and of excellent quality sold irecly at last week's values until about twothirds had been sold, prices then fell 10s each, but on a draft or 20 steers being withdrawn prices rallied to the conclusion of the sale and prices for those sold ranged for steers from 15s to 17s; and for cows and heifers from 12s to 13s (id per 100!b<; fat calves in full number sold irregularly but fairly kept their values ; fat sheep in full number allowed their price ; wethers, from lis to 13s (id ; ewes, Ss to 12s 0,1 each ; lambs in usual numbers were of better worth and brought from Ss to 12s (id each ; pigs, although of a good class were dull of sale and brought about 3d per lb dead weight.
Mussus Hunter and Nolan'* Wfkki.y "Rki'OUT.— Grain, seeds, horsefeed, etc.— The supply of local grown oats has been large. Grass swih ample for requirements. Nu'rcallv good chalf has been brought forward. \Vu quote : Feed oats, from 2s 3d to 3s 3d pur bushel : maize, 3s (id ; bran, £1 10s to to per ton ; chalf, l; 2 to £2 10* per ton. Howes: The supply Inn not been large or unusual m .-tamp. There has been fair demand, and little or no alteration m value. There was a fair muster of the usual stamp at tho Durham Yards on Friday, but the attraction was the thoroughbred A colt by St. L?ger out of Atalanta sold at 41 guineas ; filly by Captivator out of Jilt, 2L guineas ; bay filly by King Quail out of Ratan mare, 24 guineas; bay cult by G.iptivator out of Lady Elizabeth, 13 guineas. Hacks and light harness horses at the previous week's quotations. Wool, hides, skins, &e. : Larger quantities were brought forward and pitched at the Durham Yards on Tuesday, and the previous week's valuer ruled, although per lb. was tho highest price realised for ox. We quote : Ox hides, from 3' f d to 4j|d ; cow, 2.|d to 2 : fd ; calfskins, 3d to -l.'.d per lb; sheepskins, 3s to 4s (id each ; lambskins, Is 7d to 2s Id each ; pelts, Is Id to Is 7d each ; longwool, to (i.'.rl per lb ; lambs' wool, (ijjd to 7d per lb;" locks and pieces, 2UI to ihd. Tallow, 12s to llji till per cwt. ; rough fat, ihd per lb. Cattle: There has been an improved demand for dairy and store, and fat boasts have found purchasers at previous values. There was a good master at Newmarket on Tuesday, and a large one at Papakura on Wednesday. Tim bidding for dairy and st.ru stock was brisker, and there was little or no alteration in fat beasts. Homo averages, of which wore steers, £5 2s (id, £5 13s (id, £5 15s fid, £•"> IDs, £'i 2s (id, £7 ; cows, C 2 lis 9d, £3 lis (id, £3 12s (id, £3 17s (>d. Sheep were short of requirements at Newmarket on Tuesday, and met spirited competition. Wethers sold at from I Is to i:>< lid each ; ewes, 9s to 12s; lambs plentiful, and sold at from Gs 94 to 13s (id. Pigs were again yarded at Newmarket on Tuesday in limited number, and there remained an unsatisfied demand at from 2',d to 3.', d per lb, live w.vght.
