TE KOOTI.

The Auckland contingent, with Te Kooti in charge, reached Auckland on Saturday. A largo crowd assembled on the Queenstreet Wharf to see the prisoner land, but wore disappointed, as the police met the Chelmsford at the Heads and transferred Te Knoti, with his wife and secretary, to the s.s. Planet, and privately landed them at the Wynyard Tier, from whence they were taken to Mount Kden. Te Knoti has been very much depressed since his arrest. Mr Napier, as counsel for Te Knoti, intends to appeal against the decision of the K.M. at Opotiki. To Kooti sent a me.-sage to the Native Minister (the Hon. li. Mitchelson) to the effect that he was desirous of seeing him, and Mr Mitchelson went up to the gaol. Te Kooti stated that he would, if released, go hack to Waikato, and refrain from going to (iisborne again. It was also his intention to give up the drink. Mr Mitchelson intimated to him that the Government would require substantial bail, though there does not appear to be any intention of enforcing the magisterial decision as to bail for £1500. (BY TKLBGRArH.—OWN COHItKSJ'ONDIiNT.) Auckland, Monday. Te Kooti was set at liberty from Mount Eden Gaol this afternoon, bail being accepted from two influential natives named vSam Mangakahia and Kissling Rewhiti in £:"00 each. To Kooti is said to have gone back to Waikato.
