SUDDEN DEATH.

A 31 AX, about (10 >ears of age, named .T. P. Slattory, employed as gardener by Mrs O'vynne, of Hamiltin, was found dead in his bed on Sunday morning. As he did not appear to his breakfast, Messrs R. (Jwyiiiie, Brookfield and Dr. Murch went to his room at 10 a.m., and, finding the door fastened and obtaining no response to their calls, burst in the door. They discovered the deceased lying in a calm and peaceful manner in his bed, quite dead, having evidently died in his sleep, as mu open Catholic prayerhook and pipe lav on a chair at his bed sido. Sergeant McCrath was notified of the event, and yesterday morning empanelled a jury for tho inquest, which was held by Mr Searaucke, district coroner, at 10 o'clock. The jury consisted of Messrs ■T. Parr (foreman), Taylor, Mclntyre. Chappell, Davey and Black well. There were no marks of violence on the body, nor was there any evidence that the deceased had been drinking, as all the wages ho had received were found amongst his effects. Dr. Murch gave evidence, and a verdict of "Death from natural causes " was returned. The deceased was formerly in a fair way of business in Auckland, where his wife and family live, and who have telegraphed their instructions for the remains to be forwarded to town for burial.
