SYDNEY AS A MARKET FOR FRUIT.
In response to an enquiry inado through Mr Sare, the Waikato agent of the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company hi reference to Sydney as a market for flint the following has been handed us for publication :—The most suitable sized packages are about one bushel cases; made of the cheapest wood. With regard to [jacking, the main thing is to carefully select only the hardy tough kinds and not to bruise same. Paper may he used but it is a question if net results are not better without it. The best time to .dap is about the middle of the present month ; in February apples anil pcurs are plentitul, and quotations a fortnight ago were -Is to 8s per case of 1 bushel lor the former, and [is and 10s for the latter. As soon as the Sydney apples get scarce Tasmanuin apples will bo put on the market, say in three or four weeks from now, and New Zealand will have to compete against these, which are of splendid quality for standing after arrival in Sydney. Tasmaniau apples will sell at Is to Ss and 10s per cr-sc. Of course these quotations are wholesale prices, and it is understood that there will be exceptions to the above quotations through extra bad or good quality and through either a bare or over full market. —Yours truly. —, .Gk'jiwk W. Sauk, Acting Agent.
