BATHING FATALITY AT CAMBRIDGE.
4 A sad gloom was cast over Cambridge, on Thursday evening, when it became known that Mr Arthur Selby, sou of Mr Win. Selby of Hautapu, had been accidentally drowned in the Waikato. The deceased was a member of S. Andrew's Church choir, and he rode into Cambridge, along with another young man named Walters, on Thursday evening to attend the practice. Having some time to spare they both went f ur a bathe in the Waikato at the usual bathin" place, and the next that is known is that" Walters rushed up into the town saying that Selby was drowned. It appears"neither of them could swim, and there, was no one else present at the time. Every effort was made to recover tho body, but lias so far been unsuccessful. The sad news was conveyed to S. Andrew's Church just as the choir practice was about to beain at 8 p m , and the mcmbeis at once disbanded. Much sympathy is felt for the family to whom this will be a terrible blow, for about nine years ago they lost a line young man by the accidental discharge of a gun. lho deceased was a great favourite and was highly respected.
