It was about this time last year we strongly urged upon farmers the advisability of purchasing well-bred sheep at the Sheep Fair. There were many then that deprecated the advice wc offered. Wc venture to assert, however, that no transaction entered into during the last few years has terminated so satisfactorily as did investments in sheep at the time we refer to. Everything has been in favour of the sheep-owner, beginning with the improvement in prices which date almost immediately after Mr McNicol held his Pair at Ohaupo. The time has again come round for farmers to replenish tbeir flocks, and opportunities for so doing are soon to be afforded them. A Sheep Fair will be hold at Ohaupo on Wednesday next, and another at Waipawa, in Hawkes Bay, both of which have been announced in our columns for several weeks. It is possible such excellent results as were obtained during the past year may not be expected this season. We can, however, feel perfectly justified in again pointing out the benefits to be derived from adding yearly to the number of our local flocks! "The soil and climate of Waikato seem particularly adapter! for the production of wool as well as grain, and it will ultimately be found that persistent perseverance in promoting both industries will be most beneficial to farmer and district alike.
