WAITOA ROAD BOARD.

The usual monthly meeting: of the Waitoa Road Board took place last Saturday, in tha Nottingham Castle Hotel, Morriusville. Present : Messrs H. Burnett, J. Horrell, and J. Tumbull. The Chairman being absent, Mr Horrell was voted to the chair. Among the inw.ir.ii correspondence were the following :— Chowx Lands Rates. —A memorandum from tho Piopurty Tax Commissioner in iiilemtions riMiiuring to bo made m the roll as regards lauds ratable tu the Crown. Pum.io Works Dkpaktmknt.—A circular statin/ that the Public Works Department had biifin abolished, and that in future, all communications to the Government with reference to road works, etc., must be inudo tu the Honourable, tlio Minister of Lands. i.VTEiiIWT. —A letter from the Secretary to the Troasuiy re the payment of £50 23d. lining tho second half year's interest on tin; Board's inscribed debt at the Treasury under " the (government Loans to Local Bodies Act, ISSO." Repairs.—A letter from Mr R. B. B. Willis re repairs required to road between the properties of Me-srs K. K. Chudleigh and J. B. Smith. A letter from Mr H. F. Cox re road work required at Waiharekeke, where he has takon up 000 acres of land. It was decided that tho Engineer get the work done to which Mr Willis refers, and the engineer was instructed to inspect and report on the work referred to by Mr Cox. The engineer was also instructed to inspect and report on tho works proposed to be done on the Piako-Ciimbridge road by the expenditure of the rates derivable from Native Lands for the current year amounting to £09 18s 7d.
