Auckland, Friday. Till-: city schools re open after the noli days on the 4th February.
An action brought by the Commissi uier of Crown Lands against a tenant who was in arrears with his rent was decided at the It.SI. Court this morning. This was the first action of its kind brought in Auckland, and its result shows that occupiers of Crown Linds can, by a simple process in the H. M. Court, be ejected as easily as an ordinary defaulter.
At a meeting of John Buchanan's creditors to-day, Mr Buchanan offered tIG.OUO f.ir the stock and book debts, being equal to 10s 10d in the pound After some discussion, the offer was accepted, subject to approved guarantees. An ex-Aueklander, writing from Brisbane, expresses lii.s belief Ihat six thousand tons of potatoes could be placed there at high prices.
