FREEZING COMPANY'S MANURES
Ok Tuesday last a meeting of farmers was hold in Delaney's Hotel, Ohaupo, to hoar the explanation from the Frozen Meat and Storage Company in reference to tie infrri r quality of the minuies supplied by them. There were about forty present, Mr Robert Salmon, secretary to the Waikato Farmer's Association being voted to the chair, and he introduced Mr Syinons, Manager of the manure department of the Frozen Meat and Storage Company to the meeting. Mr Symons stated that besides being manager of the manure department for the Company he was at the same time interested in the Company, and therefore he was doubly sorry to meet the Waikato farmers under these present circumstances. After the circulation of the reports with reference to the inferior quality of the Company's manures, upon consultation with the directors it was decided that he should visit the Waikato and meet the farmer with the object of explaining the causes of the poor results obtained by analysis from their superphosphates, and also to make a proposal with reference to rebate and future protection. The materials used, he explained, in the manufacture of phosphates, such as blood, offal, &c., had been exposed to the weather and a portion of the manurial matter had beeu lost fr nn them, but to prevent this loss in future, the Company had erected sheds to store the refuse in. It was, lie said, the intention of the Company to grant a rebate upon all superphosphates purchased from thein since the first of last July. In future, with a view to re-establishing the position for their manures, they had decided to make a donation to the funds of the Waikato Farmer's Association, to be devoted by that body for the payment of au analyist to take chemical analyses of the Company's manures, such analyist to have access at all times to the manure works, and to take any samples of manures from them for analysis, the Company agreeing to sell upon that analysis. This ho thought would re-estab-lish "confidence among the fanner with regard to the manures. After some crosstable conversation, Mr Symons arranged to meet the farmers at Ohaupo on Tuesday next, to lay before them definite proposals in writing from the Company. A vote of thanks to the chair terminated the meeting.
