THE RAILWAY COMMISSIONERS.

At a meeting of Cabinet this afternoon, th« question of Railway Commissioners was under consideration, and the appointments wero allotted as follows: —Chief Commissioner, Mr J, McKerrnw, Surveyor-Gene-rat, .Assistant Commissioners, Mr J. J l . Maxwell, General-Manager of Railways, and Mr 11. W. Hannay. Assistant-General Manager of railways, '['lie salaries are : — Chief Commissi oil nr, £!,200; Assist:! nt-C'ommi.ssioners, i- 1,000. The Premier states that no gentlemen were recommended by the AgentGeneral for the position. The name of one gentleman was submitted by Sir I). Bell, bitt before the matter came under consideration, the gentleman in question telegraphed to have his name withdrawn.
