NEW ZEALAND FREEZING COMPANY'S MANURES.

At the annual meeting of shareholders of the New Zealand Frozen Meat and Storage Company, held in Auckland on Thursday, the chairman (Mr Bull) in his report, alluding to the complaints against the Company's manures, said :—While on this subject I may state that the directors have, within the last month, been much concerned to hear reports of analyses stated to have been made of some of the company's manures, with alleged unsatisfactory results. The company, through its printed circular, expresses its willingness to defray the cost of analysis, but it is evident that tho proper course is that some representative of the company should be present when the samples are taken ; in the cases referred to this has not been done. It is evident that unless very great care is exercised, frauds on the company may be perpetrated ; it is oniy necessary to refer to the late case of the Waitoa Goldfield to show how individuals of undoubted good faith may be misled in the case of samples taken for analysis. Frequent analyses have been made on the company's behalf with excellent results, and while it is understood that chemical action may take place whereby a portion of the manurial elements may be changed in form and become non-effective (although up to tho present the company has no knowledge of such a result), yet the directors would appeal to the many testimonials they publish, as evidenco of the general excellence of their manures, while it is inconceivable that the reputation which has been acquired at great cost should, except by some accident, be risked in a matter so easily capable of detection.
