CHRISTMAS DISPLAY OF MEAT.

The display of Christmas boef by Messrs and Cassidy of Hamilton yesterday wan one that elicited many favourable comments from passers-by, and the excellent quality doubtless enticed purchasers for the choice joints. Mr Cassidy had his beef from a fine bullock bought at Mr McNicol's sale on Tuesday last, which weighed close on 1,000 lbs, while his lambs purchased at the last Hamilton sale were reared by Mr Graham of Pukete. These latter were very good carcases and averaged about 50 lbs each. The pork from nice sized porkers looked very tempting and the show of poultry was also very fair. The beef at Mr Qnaltrougb was from a bullock bred by Mr Scott of Paterangi, which topped the scale at 10 cwt. We can vouch for the quality of this meat, having tasted some of it yesterday. The lambs, one of which weighed 321b5., were a good sample and all averaged oOlbs, The pork cut from two fine homo bred porkers, looked very toothsome, and the veal was in keeping with tho quality of the others. The mutton at both these places was fair and about the average. Mr Qualtrough had erected some slight decorations in honour of the festive season, but the docorations in general were nothing like they have been in past years, when times were more flourishing.
