WAIPA COUNTY COUNCIL.
TIIK usual monthly meeting of the Waipn County Council was held in tho Oo.innl Chambers, Dhaupo, at 10.30 on Tuesday morning. There were present : Crs. fjing, (chairman), Finch, Killer, .Kan.'ll, D.nvson and Hunter. Mr A. Armstrong, County Knginenr, was also in attendance. Enoixkkk's JvKroitT.— To tho Chairman, Wmpa County Council: Sir,—Contract No. !)S, let at the last sitting of the council, has been taken up by this contractors, uho were making fair progress with the work at the tiinu of my hist inspect! >n. Contracts Nos. 92, 95 and 97 have been completed during the month, and I rcimimend tin , payment of £7 10s on contract Xo. 02, JUI 4s on contract No. !)">, and lIS 3s on contract No. 97. The wattling erected smivj years ago round the "spud" hoNs on the Hamilton-Newcastle Mad, has fallen down ina good many places f.oiu anl as these holes are in several instances, on the line of the road, it will ba necessary to have them fenced. A few of them it would be tics'ruble to partially fill in, this could be donn by removing some of the soil from tho aid-. , of the road, forming a sort of half embankment on the side of the hole. I would also recommend tho re-forming of tho piece of road near Mr Hibbs' on the Ohaupo-Hiimilton road. Walker's ("Jully «i>idue; I have to report that it shortly will be necessary to take steps to have this bridge re-built, as the present structuie will not hold out much lomji-r. Tenders are due to-day fur re-forming, &c, near Alexandra, and also for work on the OrakauKihikihi road.—l am, &c, Alex. Ridler moved that the engineers be instructed to have tho holes on the Ngaruawahia-Hamilton road fenced, &c, as recommended in his report, and also to call for tenders for the work near Mr Hibbs' farm.—Seconded by Cr. Dawson and carried. 'VValkkb's Gully Bridge.—Some time ago the Engineer reported with reference to this bridge, and at the same time stated that to erect a new bridge similar to the one nt present standing would cost about £230, while to erect one ten feet higher would cost somewhere about £fiso. As tin's latter bridge would be one more suitable to the settlers, it was decided to let the matter stand over to next meeting, and in the meantime to ascertain the feeling of the district as to whether the settlers would be willing to contribute the difference in cost between the two bridges. Finance.—Tho Clerk reported that the funds of the county were at present £1114 in debit. Dog Registrars.—The following reports were received from the dos registrars:—H". Fitzgerald, 107 fiogs registered; N. T. Maunder, S;T>; t>. Lees, 8-1. Refund.—The Kihikihi Town Hoard applied for a refund of £7 13s lOd, paid by them as rates on endowments in their district, under sec. IS of the Property Assessment Act, 18S5. The Clerk stated that the Act referrpd to dealt with exemption from Property Tax, but not with local rating, and be was instructed to replv to that effect. I

Audit Account.—An account for £11 from the Audit Oltice for 33 hours' work auditing the neennts of tho county was held over for a month. This concluded the business, and the Council rose.
