SOIREE AT WHATAWHATA.

Ok Tuesday evening last there was a large gathering in the Whatawhata schoolroom, when a very successful soiree was held under the auspices of the Wesley an Church. The tables were spread bountifully, and were well patronised. Mesdames Rothwell, Calder, Tidd, Chapell, Crawford, and Misses Rothwell, Calder, Iverson, liolleson, and others presided. At 7.30, a concert was held under the presidency of the Rev. T. G. Carr, who gave a short congratulatory address. The following interesting programme was contributed by children of the publio school, several Whatawhata ladies, and the Hamilton Trinity Church choir, Miss Campbell presiding at the organ:—Solo, "Calvary," Miss Salmon; part song, "Lot the Saviour in," choir; solo and chorus, " Beautiful City," Miss Calder ; instrumental duet, Miss Campbell and Messrs Mcaehem and Carr; recitathn, " Disgusted wife to her husband," Mr T. Rothwell; solo and chorus, " Scatter seeds of kindness," Miss Rolleson; part song, "When the mists have rolled away," choir; recitation, " Only a tear," school girl ; solo and duet, "Jessie's Dream," the Misses Salmon; solo, "Young Hero," Mr Shepherd ; dialogue, " Young People's Choice," live .school children; solo. "Oh, to be over yonder," Rev. T. (!. Carr; solo, "Tired," Miss Campbell. After votes of thanks to the ladies, the children, and to the musicians, the Doxology was sung, the .Benediction pronounced, and the assembly dispersed.
