THE DAIRY.

Thk following circular has been issued to farmets by the New Zealand Dairy Association :—

Duau Sin,—l have to inform you that the price which we shall pay for your milk will be uniformly 2Jd per gallon, (the skim milk being returned free) for the balance of the summer season, that is until tho end of May, and dating back from tho first of the present month. This will give a period of seven mouths at the increased price instead of at 2.fcd agreed upon. With reference to a winter dairy. Wo had previously agreed for milk-suppliers until May only. This you will remember was done at the wish of the producers. Wo are now glad to learn that many settlers are disposed to carry on during the winter. I have therefore to inform you that our creamery in your neighbourhood will continue its operations through the months of June, July, August and September, if milk enough is furthcoming to pay bare current expenses for that time. I submit the following, which I believe to be equal to tho most liberal bona fide offer yet submitted to provincial dairyfarmers. Our proposals are, to pay for milk of 10 per cent, of cream quality, per gallon, with £d per gallon extra for every additional 1 per cent, of cream, less a deduction of Jd per gallon for skim milk returned. When the high percentages of cream which are obtained in the winter time are takon into account, you will see that with careful treatment of stock, and provision of wioter feed, the price at these times, may eSsily be made to average 5d per gallon for the months in question. I am glad to be able to claim your confidence in our association's disposition to treat you with liberality, I shall take it as a further favour if you -will please fill in and sign the enclosed form. If you decide not to contribute, still please fill it in " nil " and return it early, either direct or through the creamery manager.—Yours faithfully, W. Spragg, Manager, New Zealand Dairy Association. Auckland, November 19th, 18S8.
