BOND V. KENNEDY.
TO TUB EDITOR. Sih,—Although not one of appeal, this seems likely to develop into a " cause celbbre." My former letter appears to have raised the righteous indignation of your reporter and of Mr Hay. Permit me to remark that my correction denying your reporter's statement that "Mr Hay gave notice of appeal" remains virtually uncontradicted. His Worship, the Resident Magistrate, said to Mr Hay, " There can be no appeal; as I have given iny judgment upon the evidence." Your reporter, who seems very wrath that anyone should Tenture to differ from him, merely ciinmmnicittcs " his impression" of what took place. Mr Hay, on his part, says "he understood," etc. Mr Hay claims that it is not his habit to threaten. I fancy that this portion of his letter will have caused a broad grin on many a face. He might as well have claimed a reputation for veracity, which, of course, no one would think of denying to him. I should not have troubled you in the first instance, but since your reporter has been in the employ of Mr Hay, I have had reason to notice that many Court cases reported by the former, have been tainted with bias in favour of the latter. —I am, yours etc.,
Thomas Grksham. Te Awamutu, 4th December, ISBB. P.S. —As far as I am concerned, this correspondence wijl cease here.
