The fortieth anniversary of the accession of the Emperor Francis Joseph I. was celebrated to-day, without public pomp or festivity, the Emperor having desired there should be no outward display. Thirty millions of florins will be given to the charities of the realm, and orders have also been given that a thousand parks and avenues throughout Austria and Hungary are to be planted with trees in commemoration of the event.
