NEW GOVERNOR OF QUEENSLAND.
(BY ELECTRIC TELKGKAPH-— COPYRIGHT.) London, November 30. General Sir H. W. Norman, Governor of Jamaica, has been appointed Governor of Queensland. The announcement that General Sir H. W. Norman has been selected as Governor of Queensland was received in the House of Commons with cheers. Amongst those who refused the Queensland Governorship were Lord Hardwicke, and three other uobleinen. The Press generally speak highly of General Norman. December 2. The resolution passed '.iy the Victorian Legislature with reference to the appointment of Colonial Governors was received with cheers on being read in the House of Commons to-day. Adelaide, December 1. Speaking at the Caledonian Society's banquet, the Governor, Sir Win. Robinson, thought the Home Government misunderstood tho wishes of the colonists, and suggested a Conference on the subject between colonial delegates and the Colonial Office.
