LATEST AUCKLAND NEWS

(by telegraph—own correspondent.) Auckland, Monday. At the Police Court to-day, David Hunter, a respectable man, was charged on six separate charges of haviug embezzled certain sums of money, the same being the property of his employers, Messrs Moir and Co., of Ghristchurch. The case was remanded.

A farmer, named James Hamilton, met with serious injuries while buslifalling in the Maraetai district. He was knocked down by a heavy log, which rolled over him, breaking his leg and dislocating the shoulder joint. Dr. Bews, of Otahuhu, attended the injured man, who is progressing favourably.

The Alameda, with English mails of the 3rd inst., left San Francisco for Auckland on the 18th inst., ono day lute. The Mari-
