[bv telegkaph.—press association.] CiIRiSTOHURCH, Monday, About 5 o'clock this evening the Sydenham Salvation Army Barracks and officers quarters, with a cottage belonging to Mr Thus. Davis, situated in Battersea-street, were burned down. The fire broke out in a semi-detached kitchen behind the Salvation officers' house and a strong east wind rapidly carried it to other buildings. No one was in the kitchen at the time. The furniture of all the buildings was saved. Insurance on Salvation Army Barracks, £500 ; officer's house, £100, Standard; Davis' house, £150. Union. The barracks was of wood, with iron roof, erected three years ago, and would seat 700 people.
