Meljjouhse, November 17. Some startling disclosures have been made with reference to the enquiry into the Kew Asylum. Mrs Doyl'e, who attempted suicide by cutting her throat after murdering her two children, died to-day. November 19. A trading schooner foundered in n squall oll'S. Leonard's, a small fiahing village in Hobson Bay, 70 miles Southwest of Melbourne. The >;;ew made for the top rigging, where they remained for some hours before being rescued, which, owing to the heavy aea was accmnplishod with difficulty. The Federal Timber Yards have been burned down, also a part of Lonsland'e foundry and a quantity of valuable machinery damaged. The fire spread to a row of cottages on the bank of the Yarra which were completely gutted. The sparks flew to a great distance, and four fires broke out in the suburbs, apparently all from sparks from the first fire, aud great damage has been Bnstained. Sydnkv, November 17. A jockey named Waldron has been killed at the Newcastle races. A movement is on foot with the view of erecting a statue to the memory of the late Mr W. B. Dalley, and subscriptions are being invited from all the Australasian colonies. The Hon. Mr Mitchelson, Minister of Public Works, is a passenger by the Wakatipu, which left to-day for Wellington.
