A strange tale of a gold plate with inscriptions falling from heaven, printed in Tamil and Telegii, is in circulation in India. This mysterious tale (said the Hindoo Patriot) is as follows :—A plate which was made of most beautiful gold, with the following inscription, accidentally fell down from heaven, on the Temple of Casi Viswanath, at Benares : " From the month of November, ISSB, God Himself will rule as Emperor over Hindustan, incarnating Himself in human form. From this time there will be justice all over the world, and the Monis—that is, sages —will be in a very prosperous condition, and will be worshipped by the people. On the 6th of March, 18S9, at Aswania. Nakshet, the sun will rise on the 45' in Mena Lunga. The day will increase and the niaht will decrease till the day becomes 14 hours, an I the night ten hours. All diseases e-f men will be cured ; anil the age of man, which is at present established as 100 yeirs, will in future be 25 years."
