The result of the polling has been in favour of the harbour works at Cisborne, representing an expenditure of £315.000. During October there ware 1260 arriva's in the colony. The departures were 2,206, of whom 1,303 were foi Victoria and 770 for New South Wales. The police have been unable to re-capture the twice-escaped Maori convict from Lyttelton Gaol. He has been committing several burglaries since.
