Town "Board. —The monthly meeting of the Town Board was held in the officii on Saturday, the 10th inst. Present: Com. Gallagher (chairman), Lipsey, Mills, Kbert, and Heathcote. A letter was read from Messrs Campbell and Cook, contractors, asking permission to obtain sand from tho Board's gravel pit., required to complete work in the Domain.—Proposed by Com. Mills, seconded by Com. Kbcrt, that the Board charge all private persons (id per load. Carried. Com. Lipsey remarked that it would be advisable to fence the pit and put a padlock upon the gate. —Works Committee : Oil the motion of Com. Ebcirt, the chairman and Com. Lipsey were appointed a works committee. Gravel Pit: The engineer wrote drawing attention to the dangerous proximity of the gravel pit to the road and recommending that it be fenced. Resolved that tho matter be left to the work? committe. Road metal: The Chairman remarked that he. thought that it would be well for the Board to authorise the spreading of the 60 yards procured by the Board. —Com. Mills drew the Board's attention to the bad state of the road between the Northern Boundary and Lipsey's Bridge.—-Com. Ebert referred to the dram pipes boing choked up in lvenrick-street, and causing an overflow. —Moved by Com. Mills and seconded by Com. Heathcote that the Works Committee attend to these three matters, and also to the deepening of the watertable from tho Hot Springs' fence to the opposite Bank corner —Carried.— Finance: The Clerk stated that the total amount of rates collected to date was i9O Is 4fl, leaving £lio possibly collectable. The debit Bank balance was £50 lis.—Tho Chairman informed the members that arrangements were made with the Dank for an overdraft up to £75.—An inpccunions Board : Mr J. M. Murray tendered his resignation. Com. Mills regretted the Board was not in a position to keep a clerk, and moved that the resignation be accepted.—Seconded by Com. Kbert and carried. —Proposed by Com. E'nert, seconded by Com. Mills, that applications be invited for the office of clerk and collector to the Board, and to state rate of remuneration, and applications to be sent in to the chairman on Monday, the 19th, at 7 p.m. — Resolved that a special meeting be held on Monday, the 19th inst., to receive tenders and appoint a clerk.—Accounts were passed amounting to £4 10s. Poundkeeper s state inent received showing the 1 >nard's per centage to be £7 li s 2d. This being all the business the meeting closed. Domain Board. —A special meeting of the Board was held on the 12th inst., there were in attendance :--Messrs Gavin (chairman), Ahier. Lipsey and Ilott. The Chairman stated the contractors for tho exter» sion of tho tennis court had completed their task, but that the _ engineer had pointed out some minor details which wore not satisfactorily completed. The contractors who were present by the Board's request, stated their willingness to rectify the mistakes.—Proposed by Mr Ahier, .seconded by Mr Lipsey, that tile work be paid for, less £5 to be detained until tho matters referred to were completed.—Carried. The members generally expressed their opinion that the work had been carried out in a thoroughly workmanlike manner, in spite of the many unforseen difficulties the contractors had met with, The Chairman bad asked them to give him a price for sodding the whole formation with turf at per yard, and the price named being 9d, it was resol veil to let them a contract for 200 yards at that pri ce, it. being a standing rule or the Board to let no work costing over £10, unless by public tender. —Mr Ahier thought, it would ho advisable to have the No, 1 drinking fountain covered in, and a tap inserted.—Mr Lipsey proposed and tho chairman seconded, that Mr Ahier attend to the matter, and that the figure of Lord Nelson be placed upon the top.--Carried. —The chairman stated that ho would be in a position to call for tenders at an early date, for the proposed improvements to Baths Nos. 2 and 4, and would convene a speci d meeting to open tenders as soon as possible. Free baths applied for by George Hewson were granted. Tun Wauii Accident.—We regret to learn that the man Symns, who was injured by falling from the scaffold of a building, at Waihi, has succumbed to his injuries. Private Enterprise.—'The want of an invalids' chaii, which we referred to a short time since, has been supplied by Mr E. Gallagher, coach proprietor, who has this week procured one of a very light character. Native Row. —Two turbulent natives from Ohinemuri created a little excitement on Monday by making a disturbance and resisting the police in arresting them. After some considerable trouble they were conveyed to durance vile, and next morning received a very severe sentence from one of our J.P's.
