Last year's fifty mile bicycle road record was beaten this morning by three minutes, The course was to Leeston and buck, and the road was in good order. Wilson, of tho Pioneer Bicycle Club (ten minutes start), finished first, and Soames, of the Chris'tehurch Bicycle Club (scratch), was second, the time being 3 hours 32 minutes. The body of the fisherman Kuday, one of the two who were drowned six weeks ago in Lake Ellesmero, was found yesterday at the mouth of the River Selwyn. INVERCARGILL, Monday. Joe Sam K.ee, a Cuinese miner at Round Hill, was lulled on Saturday through a fall of earth. A young man named Cornelius Coughlan was accidentally killed at Fairfax, by his brother William, whilst rabbiting. The latter stumbled and fell, and the contents of his gun were lodged in the deceased's head.
