WAIKATO JOCKEY CLUB.
A MEKTIXG of lire above Club was held at B-.ich's Hotel, Cambridge, on Saturday last at 8 p.m. Present: Messrs Tuck (in the chair), Hiicli (hon. sec), Carr, Me Cann (2), Storey, Dalgleish, Lake, Oussen, G-emmell, Davies, Allwill, Breakell and several others.
Tlie Chairman said Hio tneutinp; had been called in consequence r.f the reply received from tho Auckland Racing Club, which pointed out that any club holding two meetings in the year—i.e., from August Ist to July 31st—must give an average of £200 for each day. That meant they would have to tindSMOOif Ihrty held iii*>Btinsrs on Boxing and St. Patrick's days. The Working Com mitteu did not like to take the responsibility upon themselves, and had therefore called the meeting.
Mr Bach thought they could run the two meeting*. They could give filoOon Boxing D.iy, and £2.")0 on St. Patrick's D.iy, as member's suh.-cviptions would become due on January Ist.
