At ihe horse sale on Friday, November 2, a largo number of unbroken stoek were entered. They all sold freely ; prices ranged from £0 10s to £13 10s eachi tho larger prices being given for active medium draught. At the hide and skin sale on Tuesday, heavy hides were required at full values ; lig.it hides scarcely kept late values Sheepskins in brisk inquiry at full values. Lambskins, Is to Is 4d ; sheepskins, 2s (id to 5a 10d each ; locks, 4:,' d ; wool, o>l to 7d tho lb; tallow, lls tlio cwt. At Remnera on Thursday dairy cattle were not required. Store cattle, in limited numbers were better worth. Fat ciltln, in averse supply. *old irregularly, on the whole somewhat'lower, and at the conclusion of tho sale steers were Is tho 1001b loss values. Cattle : The supply has been large and demand steady, but prices throughout have been in favour of the purchaser. There, was a Rood muster at both Newmarket and Papakura, competition was good at both sales, but the anticipations of vendors could not be realised, although the. decline in price was almost imperceptible. Lambs plentiful, and sold at from (» 3d to 11s each. Pifs : Very short supply, and there remained an unsatisfied demand at last week s values.
AUSTRALIAN M ARKETS. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Cninpnny report, Chri.stchureh, November 2 :—Wheat.— Late cablegrams from Homo are of a more re-assuring character, ami record a firmer tone prevailing, though values tiro without material alteration. Australian markets are also firm at relatively hieher prices than those quoted in London. Locally there has been a Rood demand and numerous transactions have transpired at 3s 10d to 3s 10.M for prime Tuscan, Sis !Ud to 3s 10d Pearl, and 3s 8/jd to 3s aid, Hunter's, all f.o.b. At our auction sale on Wednesday, when we quitted upwards of. 3000 sacks of. grain, prime milliu* wheat made 3s 7d to 3.1 Sid, ex store ; good second quality, 3s 2d to 3s -Id ; whole fowl wheat, 2s 10d to 3s; broken wheat, Is Gd to 33, according to quality. The delnnnd for good ehiokwheat is active, and stocks use rapidly working (iff. Dairy produce. Supplies of butter have overtaken the demand, anJ rates have dropped to 6d for Rood quality. Cheese.—The Australian markets t.ffur nmre encouragement to shippers, but a» supplies of suitable quality are much contracted, very little is finding its way thither. Quotations arc nominally 4.W per lb loaf iduipo, Syd to 4d heavy sizes.
