Domain Uoaud.—The meeting of the Domain Board was held on Saturday the 3rd iust. Present : Messrs Gavin (chairman), Ahier and llott. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. Application for free baths by J. W. MaddncUs of Wanganui, (Granted. The contractors for lawn oxtontion and bowling court, Messrs Campbell and Cook, complained that Lhe Chairman of the- Town Board charge,! for the sand required for the cimtmcr.. Tho Chairman was requested toseotlieChainnm of the Town B iard as to whether the sand would be charged for in case the Domain Board required any ; and, if so. to make application to tho Crown Luids Department for a gravel pit on behalf o£ the Domain.—Accounts : The takings for the month amounted to £29 10s. Accounts were passed for payment aniounthi" to £1410s, leaving a credit balance at the Bank of £75 11s Id.— Tho question of the advisability of using a portion of the Board's funds in subsidising a doctor was brought forward by Mr llott, and was thoroughly discussed, but as there was no seconder to the proposition the matter dropped. The Clerk was instructed to remind the purveyors of the Mineral Waters that a. quarters payment is in arrears, application was made by Mr Whitehouse, on behalf of Mr Geo. ,1. Neal, Cambridge, for an order for lawn tennis grass seed to be supplied at nett cost in time for Spring sowing. The chairman promised to let him kmw in time to procure same from England. New Library Building.—A sketch plan fiom Mr F. Pavitt was laid on the table, but tho matter was deferred till next meetof the Board. Wabdkn's Court,—November 6th. The following cases were dealt with by Warden H. W. Northcroft. Bonanza Extended Licensed Holding Te Aroha, T. MeDonough. Granted. Protection for E:irl of Aberdeen and Riverdale No. land 2 Tni, to work with two men. Granted. Right to construct a, tramway, J. M. Chambers, objection lodged bv Edward Cameron. Refused pro tetn. Protection applied for three months for Tui Reduction Claim and Champion Lode No. 4. J. M. Chambers appeared for applicant and stated thai, they were waiting result of l-ho furnace now working at Karangahake. Protection granted for one month. Protection for New Era Special Claim, Waiorongoinai, three months, John Abbott. Mr Margeths appeared for applicant. The Warden remarked that he had been informed that Abbott had advanced £800 on the security of the whole of the New Era property, and now claimed £2000 to relinquish liis claim. If by next court day it could be clearly shown that Abbott had been paid off, ho would entertain the application for protection, but if Abbott claimed to be owner, be would insist upon his having two men to each aero of ground, or forfeit the ground. Protection granted tell next court day. Monte Christo, protection to work with two men for four months, applicant, H. Brett. Granted.— Mining Inspector v. Wra. Wilkinson, arrears of rent, £10. Judgment for amount claimed and costs, 11s, —Same v. Wright, judgment for £2 and costs, 14s. A. large number of residence sites in Waiorongomai were granted. Tohnteho v. N. Baskett: Detention of a horse, and trespass by using same, lined £2 7s Gd, and costs Bs. Cross action : N. Baskett v. Rawiri, son of plaintiff in last case, to recover saddle taken by Rawiri. Ordered to return the saddle, with costs 20s.
Mining Notks.—Fifty feet of driving in the Bonanza has been let at 10s per foot. About sixteen tenders were received, ranging up to 325. Some experienced hands consider it will cost nearly tLe 10s tor material alone.
