WAIKATO HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.
A meeting of the Cambridge local committee of the above society was held in the Borough offices, Cambridge, on Thursday .it 7 p.m. Mr Wells occupied the chair, unci there were also present, Messrs J. Sharp, W. B. Smiter, W. S. Stewart, T. fTiirtly, J. S. Bond, G. W. Russell, Dr. Moon', J. P. Thomson, 11. W. Sargeant, 1). Richardson, A. Bach, It. \V. Dyer. T. W. Hicks, W. Davis, J. K. Pierce, J. Keeley, C. Garland, and several others who arrived after the proceedings. After the usual furmalitics had been complied with, the chairman said that in the ordinary course of events the Horticultural Show of 1889 would be held at C.imbridne, if the local committee were willing to accept the responsibility and carry it through. The first business was to elect representatives to the chief committee, and if those representatives asked for the show to be held at Cambridge, it would doubtls=s come; and if it did they must be prepared with a strong working committee who would do their utmost to make it a success. It was then proposed by Mr Sharp, seconded by Mr Bond and'carried, "That this meeting undertake to provide for the next show being held at Cambridge, and pledge themselves to make it a success. Messrs Wells, Forrest, Sharp and Keeley were appointed representatives to the chief committee, and they at once elected Mr Wells their chairman. It was proposed by MiDyer, seconded by Dr. Moon, that all then present be elected a working committee. Carried. The meeting was a very long one, and we shall have to hold over tlio remainder of the report. _________■««
