Mr J . McNicoL announces that he will start his first drove of cattle for the Auckland market by road on Tuesday next, in charge of Mr W. Turnbull. That such a step should be considered expedient is a sad commentary on the business management of our railways. As the next development of a continuation of this policy, we expect to see a line of waggons established between Auckland and Waikato for the conveyance of merchandise and farm produce. Such a course has, we believe, been adopted in other parts of the colony, and has proved satisfactory in every respect.
