At the inquest on the body of tho engine-driver, McNamara, who was killed in tho recent collision between two railway trains at Narrewarren, a verdict was returned that the accident was clue to the negligence of the officials, who had not properly protected the stationary train by signals. The Electoral Bill, introduced into the Legislative Assembly, abolishes plural voting, and compels, under pain of penalties, all persons on the roll to record their votes. The Press loudly denounce the latter proposal. Adelaide-:, October 25. An English passenger by the Nurnberg .states that Malietoa was shamefully treated on board the steamer. He and the chiefs were berthed in tho forecastle, and were not allowed to converse with the other passengers. Malietoa was greatly depressed, and appeared to be heart-broken. Brisiune, October 25. The Government granted Commander H. T. Wright, R.N., Commander of Marine Defences, leave of absence until his term of office had expired, but refused to pay his salary for the unexpired period, and ordered Lieutenant Taylor to assume command of defences. Commander Wright refused to hand over the gunboat Gayundah, stores and arms, and placed Lieutenant Taylor under arrest, He at once prepared the Gayundah for sea. A body of police, armed with carbines, were held in readiness to board the vessel, but Commander Wright agreed to leave the vessel and proceed to Sydney to discuss the question with Admiral Fairfax.
