SYDNEY MARKETS. Thk New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company report under date, Sydney, October 4th :—Butter (duty Id per Hi).—Since writing on the 3rth ultimo, the minket has shown no improvement, quotations, if anything, being a sh:ido weaker, and best N.Z. butter in bulk cannot to-day bo quoted at abnvo from Oil to Is. The Melbourne quotations are even lower now than when we last wrote, and as the local supply will very shortly begin to make itself telt, after the favourable weather we have just been experiencing, it seems extremely improbable that better prices will rule for somo considerable time to come. Cheese (duty 2d per lb.) : Our quotation given when writing by the Rotomahana last week—viz., 8d to i)d for really prime cheese—scill holds good, the demand con tinuing brisk. Wheat (free): Business on account of the difficulty in obtaining freight still continuefs restricted, but prices remain firm, and we quote prime JV.Z. Tuscan at from 4s (id to 4s Sd, the news by cable respecting the tone of the London market strengthening quotations. Flour (free): We have little to add since writing by the Hauroto on the 27th ultimo, the market continuing steady at the below prices with but little business doing :—Holler brands, £10 10s to ±Jll 10s; stone brands, £9 to £10.
