AUSTRALIAN MARKETS. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company report, uuder dale of Melbourne, October lOtli :—tiiain : Since our last weekly report there has been another advance iu the London wheat market, and as latest cable advices indicate considerable briskness in America, it may fairly be anticipated that prices have not touched their highest. Still tho advance has been fully discounted.both here and in Adelaide ; indeed, our local quotations leave no margin for shippers. A largo ship, the Trafalgar, has been chartered at 255., equal to 5s 4d per quarter, and if her cargo could be supplied at 4s lid., with charges at the lowest rate added, it would bring up cost to 42s 10J. Under such conditions we can hardly look for operations, unless it is iu view of a further rise in London, but'as we have pointed out this latter is promised. Our actual available surplus for export is a matter of much contention, but so far as wheat suitable for shinment is concerned the quantity is by no means as large as estimates based on the assumed yield of last season indicate. Tile deliveries of wheat and flour from the country by rail continues large. For the past week they cover 23,1iG7 bags, against 1(i,931 bags for the corresponding week last year. Our exports to date from the port of Melbourne are returned ato'iM,7ol bans of wheat and flour. Wheat : Lou.il priecs for shipper's parcels leave no margin. Not much done in this directum. To day we placed medium quality at 4s \\ 1., and quote buyers of prime at -U o\l. Flour : More done iu this lino, 1000 tons bciii* taken off the market for shipment to Loudon. We quote:— Stone-madi', I'S 15s ; and roller up to £10 10s for patent. Oats : The deliveries from New Zealand have been heavy, but still holders are firm. An inquiry for South Australian. To-day wo sold Calcutta.-, at 2s Gd., and quote Stout at 3s 4d to 3s 9J.
