A futile attempt was made to-day to wreck the Wallsend train, in which the manager of the Wallsend miue was supposed to be travelling. In the year ISO 4 Dr Drutnmond, an English medical practitioner, had Ilia diplomas stolen. For some years past a doctor of the same name has enjoyed a lucrative prac'iee at the town of Ashfield, New South Wales ; but in some minds there have been doubts as to his bona fide?. The Medical Board of the colony summoned this Dr Drmninond before them, but the pseudo-medico has decamped with £6000, a portion of a legacy left to his wife. October 17. Charles Henry has been arrested on a charge of fraudulent bankruptcy committed at Fielding. Brisbane, October 16. Selim, the Malay who rau amuck at Nornianton some time at;o, aud murdered several whites, has been sentenced to death. October 17. The Frenchman Duhamel, who murdered Mrs Uilej', his paramour, at Cruydon, has been sentenced to death.
