Lord lloseberry, in his speech a* Leeds, expressed his opinion that the colonies ought to be allowed a much larger voice in foreign affairs. The colonial should supersede the foreign policy. Australia, he said, must be paramount as regards the Pacific question. Lord Knutsford, speaking at Jpsvvich, said it was both the duty and desire of the Government if possible to ascertain and sympathise with the rights of the colonies and to meet them so long as they were consistent with Imperial interests.
