The Waikato Times Office., Friday. AUCKLAND LIVE STOCK MARKETS. Mn Alfred Buck land's Weekly KkPOKT. —At the Haymarket, during the past week, oats have brought 2s lid to 2s !M ; maize, 2s lid to 2s tid the bushel; chaff, £1 10s to £3 10s the ton. On l''riday, horse stock sold freely and at better value*; prices for useful stock ranged from £7 to £21. Side-saddles, £2 5s to £3 3s ; hackneyRaddles, £1 to £3 each. At the sale of horses and buggies at Mount Eden, on Monday, there was a good demand for everything offered. Horses brought from £10 5s to £1; the. break, £33; omnibus, £10 2s (id ; waggonette, £11 15s ; double-seated buggy, £17 10s ; single-seated buggies, £7 to £7 15s respectively. Hides and skins, on Tuesday, were at late values. Sound ox hides, from 3Jd to Id ; cow hides, 2|d to 2 : , d ; calfskins, 3/, dto -l?>d the lb ; tallow, 10s (id to lis the cwt. ; bones, £ t 18d the ton ; sheepskins, 2s to 5s !)d each ; lambskins, 3d j wool, id to 7:,' d the lb. At Wainku, on Saturday last, a large muster of store cattle sold freely, particularly grown cattle suitable, for immediately fattening. Young cattle were also in request at satisfactory prices At the fair held at Remuera, on Wednesday, stock were brought forward in great number than advertised. Many of them wero in low condition, but tho demand was good and very few remained unsold. For the bulls, there was a fair demand, prices for yearlings ranged from 3 guineas to 5 guineas; aged bulls, £2 to £3 ; three-year-old steers, £2 10s to £3 (is; cows, JElosto £2 2s ; two-year-old steers, £115s to £2 ; heifers, £1 5s to £1 los ; yearling steel's, ISs to £1 5s ; heifers, lis to £1 each. At Remuera on Thursday a small number of dairy cows were yarded, and they were slightly more saleable than last week. Prices ranged from 50s to £(i. Tho store cattle withdrawn at Wednesday's sale sold at an advance over the then bidding. No fat stock wero received from the coast, but the market was fully supplied. Prices were irregular, being lower at the finish of the sale for steers, but cows maintained their value throughout. The price for steers was from Ids to 18s ; cows, 13s to lis the ]001bs ; averages for drafts of steers leceived ranged generally from £5 15s t.o £7, but one draft of ten head averaged £S lis. Calves plentiful; generally from three to six weeks old brought from Ss to 17s each. Sheep, m short supply, were firm; wethers in their wool brought from 12s to 17s ; shorn sheep. !)a to 12s each ; lambs numerous, but many too young to be profitably sent to market; those brought from 3s (!d to (is, but wellgrown aud fatted lambs brought from 9s to 14s each. Well-bred house-fed pigs sold satisfactorily, but large coarse animals were from 3s to 7s each. Messrs Hunter and Nolan's Weekly Retort.—Horse feeds, grain, in adequate supply and steady demand. —We quote : Maize, 2s Sd per bushel; feed oats, 2s lOd to 3s; bran, £5 per ton. Horses : The improvement noticed the previous week has continued. Prices for those of a good stamp had an upward tendency, and there remains an unsatisfied enquiry for good young active horses. An averago number were entered for disposal by auction at tho Durham Yards ; competition was good, and most of the lots were cleared at an advance on the previous week's values. We quote : Hacks, at from £(> tit £12 5s ; light harness horses, from £8 to £11; no heavy draughts were disposed of. Wool, hides and skins: There was an average supply, and steady demand, at the Durham Yards, on Tuesday. We quote; Heavy ox hides, 3jd to -l.jd per lb. ; medium, 3d to 3kl; cow, 2Ad to 3d ; calf gkins, Id to 4.W per lb ; sheep skins, Is Sd to 5s lid each ; pelts, 4d to (id each. Above an average number have been brought forward, hut the demand has continued steady, as have also values. The Newmarket Yards wero fairly tilled on Tuesday, and there was a large muster at Pukekohe on Tuesday. Dairy stock were plentiful, but barely up to tho average in description, £5 being the maximum obtained, while some changed hands at £3 7s (id ; calves sold at from Ss to £1 ; yearlings, los to 25s each ; dry cows, £1 os to £2 2s (id; beef, from 15s to 17s (id jier 1001b. Some averages were—Steers, £5 5s 3d, £5 7s, £5 10 s, £!>, £(i Is, £(> lis <M ; £7, £7 10s; cows, £3 17s (id, £4 s*, £5 2s 6d. Sheep: There was a good muster of Bhorn sheep, but they scarcely sold relatively so high as those in wool, wethers selling at from 7« (id to to 12s, in wool from 14s to 10s each ; lambs, plentiful, sold at from 7s (id to 15s.
