[BY TELKttltAl'H— PRKSS ASSOCIATION.] NAPIER, Friday. Thk show at Hastings was very largely attended, nearly four thousand persons being present The exhibits in horses and cattle were excellent. Stoneyhurst was awarded tl)e champion prize in the thoroughbred class. Dogs, poultry and cattle were not very numerous, but the quality was good. BLENHEIM, Friday. A fire broke out last night in Earl and McKenzie's sash and door factory. It spread to the stables and Mr Earl's dwelling-house, which were all completely consumed. A large building occupied by Earl and Co., merchants, on the opposite side of the road was gutted. The origin of the fire is a mystery. WELLINGTON, Friday. The Government state that they knownothing of the annexation of Raratonga, and assert that they never made any request to the Imperial Government for the establishment of a Protectorate.
