Stoneyhurst was awarded tl)e champion prize in the thoroughbred class. Dogs, poultry and cattle were not very numerous, but the quality was good. BLENHEIM, Friday. A fire broke out last night in Earl and McKenzie's sash and door factory. It spread to the stables and Mr Earl's dwelling-house, which were all completely consumed. A large building occupied by Earl and Co., merchants, on the opposite side of the road was gutted. The origin of the fire is a mystery. WELLINGTON, Friday. The Government state that they knownothing of the annexation of Raratonga, and assert that they never made any request to the Imperial Government for the establishment of a Protectorate.
