RICHMOND.
Social Gathering.—A very successful entertainment was given at ''The Willows" Richmond, on September l!)th, by tho members of the Richmond Amateur Dramatic Club. The Club has been formed with a view to raising funds for erecting a hall at Richmond, owing, however, to this being their first performance their was no money taken. Their were about 60 people present, amongst whom wo noticed Air and Mrs and Misses Anderson, Mr and Mrs Bleasdale, Mrs and Miss Mr and Mrs Gould, Miss Howell, Mr and Mrs and Misses Hunt, Mr and Mrs W. Hunt, Miss Kolls, Mr and Mrs Marshall, Mr and Mrs Murray, the Misses Nevill, Mr and Mrs and Miss Rich, the Misses Quonhill, Mr and Mrs Willis, Mr and Mrs Wright: also, Messrs J. Anderson, Burnett, CholomonW. Glassford, Hardy, HayChapman, Hine, Howell, W. Hunt, S. Marshall, E. Murray, W. L. C. Williams, A. Williams and H. Williams. The proceedings opened by a farce, in one act, by John Maddison Morton, entitled " A Ttcgular Fix," Characters: Mr Hugh de Ifcass, Mr H. Burnett; Mr Surplus (a lawyer), Mr R. W. Hay-Chapman ; Clarks Surplus (his nephew), Mr F. J. P. Currie ; Abel Quick (clerk to Surplus), Mr E. D. Murray ; Smiler (a sheriff's officer), Mr J. Anderson ; Mrs Surplus, Miss K Anderson ; Emily, Miss M. Anderson ;.Mrs Deborah Carter (housekeeper to Surplus), Miss Hunt; Matilda Jane, Miss J. Anderson ; Mary, Miss F. Hunt. This was followed by an urginal extravaganza, by W. Yardly, entitled " Knavo of Hearts." Characters: King of Hearts, Mr H. Burnett; King of Diamonds, King of Spades, King of Clubs, suitors for the hand of the Princess, Mr J. Anderson, Mr E. I>. Murray and Mr V. J. P. Currie; Knave of Hearts (nephew of the King) Mr R. W. llay-Chapinan s Queen of Hearts, Miss Anderson ; Ace of Hearts (her daughter), Miss M. Anderson After which tho room was cleared, and dancing was kept up till three o'clock in the morning. Great praise is due to tho stage manager and to the committee, and we hope that it will not be long before the company have another performance ready.
