FASHIONABLE MARRIAGE.

S. Peter's Church, Hamilton, was filled to overflowing yesterday morning with a large assemblage, consisting chiefly of all the youth and beauty of the place, to wit ness the celebration of the nuptials between Mr A B. Wheeler, of Harapepe, and Miss Biggs, second daughter of Rev. _R. O'C. Biggs, the incumbent of the parish. Although the rain was falling heav.ily, it did not hinder the attendance of the spectators, some of whom came f'oin long distances and many were drenched. The bridegroom was attended by Mr Ward of Tauranga, as his best man, and the bride, who was dressed in white nun's veiling, with orange blossom wreaths, looked exceedingly nice and happy, had as her bridesmaids her two sisterß, the Misses K. E. and J. D. Biggs, and two little girls, Miss Eva Biggs an t Miss Ida Newell, who presented a very charming appearance. The marriage office was solemnised by the reverend incumbent, the bride's father. After the ceremony the happy pair left the church amid showers of rice from their friends and well-wishers, and proceeded to the Parsonage. In the afternoon they left Hamilton West by train for Te Aroha, a number of friends being on the platform to wish then; Godspeed and give a parting benediction in the shape of old shoes, according to time-honoured customs. At Hamilton East another party awaited the arrival of the train to repeat a similar performance. The train was stopped, and the guard anxiously enquired if '• there was anything serious the matter,' as he saw no passenger forthcoming, but the stoppage allowed sufficient time for the delivery of rice and ancient shoe-leather.
